What is New Life Counselling Services
New Life Counselling is about giving people a new sense of life. No matter what you’ve been through,
New Life Counselling instils hope into each and every individual.
Not everybody is the same and therefore each person is treated as a unique individual using a variety
of techniques. I, Aretha Moore (the Founder) am a multimodal therapist and the techniques I use consist
mainly of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Parks Inner Child
Therapy (PICT).
CBT looks at how the way our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes and imagery can affect our health and behaviour.
Sometimes our negative thought patterns can trigger health problems such as depression, anxiety, phobias etc.
CBT helps to change your way of thinking into more healthy, realistic terms, and with the techniques learnt
aim to reduce health problems such as panic attacks etc and also change unwanted behaviour.
SFBT does not look at past events or problems, but rather looks at how your future will appear without your
problems. It encourages you to identify and look at what is already working for you. The key to this therapy
is that it seeks solutions that will remove the barriers to your problem.
If you have suffered from trauma or abuse, whether emotional, physical or sexual; PICT is extremely successful
in helping people to achieve a new, positive outlook to life. The beauty about this technique is that in
comparison to some other models, you the client; do not have to go into detail about the past in order to receive
healing. Therefore, it saves you from any possible embarrassment, shame and unnecessary trauma.
If you haven’t suffered any abuse but find that there are some unwanted, restricting behaviours that you haven’t
managed to get rid of, no matter how many self help books you may have read, or how many outreach programmes you may
have attended – PICT is so versatile that there are tools to enable you to overcome within a quick period of time,
in comparison to other models.
If time is a big concern to you in attending sessions, there is also a method entitled PICT Quick Change Therapy.
This works very much the same way as PICT, but instead of attending weekly sessions, it enables you to have over 4 hours

How We Work
After an initial assessment to determine which therapy process is suitable for you, we will work together in a partnership.
At times homework will be given, simply to enhance the process and therefore reduce the time and money spent in therapy.
Confidentiality is of the upmost importance and your details are not disclosed in any way except under a
guise (code) for supervision purposes.
